MoreMore than friends?

Ah, that was the initial title for this blog. More More is special and she's about 14 now. Multiply that by 7 and you have a grand old lady. She has the intelligence of a 2-3 year old and understands lots of cantonese words. She listens to you and answers with a quick sneeze. On rare occasions she can be a grumpy old lady especially when we have to leave the house a few times in a day. She'll show her displeasure by leaving her pee on some prominent places - her way of telling you that she is angry. Otherwise she is toilet-trained.

We had wanted a pet and learned about her when a 'dog-rescue' friend told us that she was constantly neglected and mistreated by her previous owner. We didn't really want to buy a puppy from the pet shop. Hong Kong already has lots of abandoned pets. It is quite alarming really. More about why we think this is happening in later posts.

We took MoreMore home in the late 90's. Found out that she loves chewing on used tissue in the waste bin. And when we put covers on the waste bin, she helped herself with new tissues from the box on the coffee table. Then we suspected this was probably because of neglect and being left without food by her pervious owner. Took a while to wean her from chewing or even eating tissue paper. Well, once in a long while, she still go through my waste basket in the study room. But tissue paper is no longer in her diet. Of course there are many more stories to tell and we'll save some of these for latter posts.

Sorry, digressed too much - now back to the title. More More is now pretty much part of the family. We took her home as a pet, she became a great companion, and she is now more than just a friend.
